A warm and welcoming
time and place.
Sunday mornings at UUSV are a warm and welcoming time and place. If you consider yourself a religious liberal, an unchurched person, one of the “nones,” or a seeker of enlightenment and commUUnity, we have saved a place for you.
We meet at 11 a.m. on Sundays and offer stimulating ideas, a welcoming embrace, and a glad home for your spirit. And, like many UU congregations, we also have wonderful music (see below for details), a time for contemplation and silent introspection, and, of course, coffee and conversation after the service.
Children’s religious education (RE) is available each week, and on the second Sunday of each month we enjoy a delicious potluck lunch after the service. Our minister, Rev. Michael J.S. Carter, or a guest speaker once a month, will inform, challenge, and inspire you with insight and wisdom – and even a few bad jokes from time to time! Our congregation will greet you with enthusiasm and hope to get to know you as you find yourself eager to return to our home week after week.

Music at UUSV
Music is a vital part of our Sunday services, creating connection and joy in our gathering together.
Our Music Director
Annelinde (Linda) Metzner has been our beloved music director since 2008. A composer, arranger, poet, and music teacher with degrees from Furman University and University of South Carolina, Linda also directs Sahara Women's Peace Choir and founded Asheville's Womansong community chorus. She brings warmth and creativity to every service.
Together with longtime volunteer pianist Sue Stone, they provide music that beautifully complements each sermon.

Sunday Flower Program
On the first Sunday of each month, UUSV members provide flower arrangements in memory of loved ones, in celebration, or simply in a spirit of love. Members can choose to post an announcement in The Current and on the website as well.
