A warm and welcoming
time and place.

Sunday mornings at UUSV are a warm and welcoming time and place. If you consider yourself a religious liberal, an unchurched person, one of the “nones,” or a seeker of enlightenment and commUUnity, we have saved a place for you.

We meet at 11 a.m. on Sundays and offer stimulating ideas, a welcoming embrace, and a glad home for your spirit. And, like many UU congregations, we also have wonderful music (see below for details), a time for contemplation and silent introspection, and, of course, coffee and conversation after the service.

Children’s religious education (RE) is available each week, and on the second Sunday of each month we enjoy a delicious potluck lunch after the service. Our minister, Rev. Michael J.S. Carter, or a guest speaker once a month, will inform, challenge, and inspire you with insight and wisdom – and even a few bad jokes from time to time! Our congregation will greet you with enthusiasm and hope to get to know you as you find yourself eager to return to our home week after week.

"Freedom at 250"

Jeff Hutchins

For 250 years, Americans have cherished “Freedom.“ We say “Live free or die“ and “Give me liberty or give me death.“ But what is freedom? Do we actually have it? And, if so, have we gained or lost freedom since 1776?

"The Magic of Naming"

Rev. Eve Stevens

In folk and fairy tales, as well as in sacred texts, naming is an important ritual. It’s a way of acknowledging or honoring the significance of a being or a place or even a means and mechanism for bringing something to life. Always, across these contexts, naming shows up as a way to give power, or to take it away. We’ll explore this ancient custom and the ways the power of naming still shows up in our lives today.
