For some years, the Social Action Committee has collected new, warm socks in the fall and taken them to the AHOPE Day Center in Asheville, where they are a much-requested item. AHOPE provides a wide range of services for people dealing with homelessness.

This year, we are also collecting warm clothing for Sunrise Community for Recovery and Wellness. Folks come to their drop-in center for everything from a cup of coffee to peer counseling. As the weather gets colder, many will be in need of winter clothes, so as you bring out your own, please consider donating items that you no longer use.

We are particularly looking for:

• Sweaters
• Jackets
• Gloves
• Handwarmers
• Hats and scarves

In addition, there is always a demand for camping gear- tents, sleeping bags, tarps. If you have any of those items that you don’t need, they will be gratefully received.

Thank you!
